The Friends of Tamanend Park teamed up with the Ocean Conservancy on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 10 AM to 2 PM to participate in the 2013 annnual International Coastal
Cleanup. Gloves and trash bags were supplied to all of the volunteers and light refreshments were available. All of the debris was weighed and the information sent to the Pennsylvania
Clean Ways Committee which will enter the data to the ICC. Join us for 2014. Families, scout troops and citizens are all welcome to help with the cleanup.
You may be wondering what Tamanend Park has to do with the Atlantic Ocean. Well, we have a stream running through the park. This is considered an inland waterway and the water in
it eventually reaches the ocean bringing along with it polluted runoff to become marine debris. The health of all our rivers, streams, tributaries and lakes, and eventually the ocean
depends on the efforts of all our citizens. The following photos are courtesy of photographer, Mark Keefer, from Patch.com.
